How To: Study Smarter

Written By One of our Student Staff

School can be stressful, we all know it's true. However, that's no excuse to not get your work done and do the best that you can. Here are 5 tips on how to study smarter:

1- Ask A Teacher

Asking a teacher for help is always useful. Ask your teacher, if they have time of course, for some extra practice for you to study with or maybe a copy of the notes she made on the subject. They could also possibly try to explain the concept more. Don't be afraid to speak up!

2- Take Notes

Taking notes is a great way to remember things and a useful tool for studying later. If you're absent, don't forget to get a copy of anything you missed. You could ask the teacher for their notes or you could borrow a friend's notes to copy.

3- Eat A Healthy Breakfast

A healthy breakfast is important to the rest of your day. You'll pay attention more in class if you're not worrying about when lunch is. If you don't have the time to eat a full breakfast, just grab something small such as a granola bar or bagel. You can come to the lunch room in the mornings as well to have breakfast provided by our lovely lunch ladies.

4- Pay Attention In Class

This may seem a little obvious, but it is very important. By learning the material in class, the homework will just be review and not trying to learn the lesson by yourself. Everything you do in class will be easier if you make the effort to pay attention. If something is distracting you or keeping you from learning, don't be afraid to mention it to the teacher. Chances are that they will be able to fix or help you with the problem.

5- Do Your Work

Again this may seem obvious, but this one is the most important of all. Teachers give you work for a reason. By doing your work you're getting more practice and a helpful review of the material.

We hope these tips were helpful to you and that you enjoyed them. If you'd like to see more How To's, send us and email at greshamgazette@gmail.com with your idea. Thanks for reading!
